Since the world pandemic (COVID-19) has hit our nation, the need to assist seniors with veterinary medical bills has exploded. For many of our elderly - especially in quarantine -companion pets are often their only source of companionship, friendship, and affection - most often the primary source of their joy. Several studies have reported that elderly pet owners often have a better quality of life, exercise more regularly, and both depression and loneliness are reduced.
However, along with the joy of owning a pet, comes the responsibility of good health care for their animal companions – and the costs of good health (i.e., vaccinations, yearly check-ups, teeth cleaning, etc.) - can often be exasperating especially for a financially burdened senior. When emergencies from sudden illness and injuries arise the impact to the elderly pet owner can be devastating.
